Using Widgets

BasePress widgets allow you to add different functionality and features to your WordPress knowledge base sidebars without writing any code.

Navigate to Appearance >Widgets in the WordPress menu and follow the standard procedure to add widgets. You’ll find a new widget area called ‘Knowledge Base Sidebar’ on the right side of the page. Below you can see the KB sidebar and the BasePress widgets highlighted:

BasePress has a few widgets and a dedicated widget area to use in your knowledge base documentation.

  • Knowledge Base – KB Selector
    This widget lists the Knowledge Bases available.
  • Knowledge Base Sections
    This widget lists the sections created within a certain Knowledge Base.
  • Knowledge Base Related Articles
    This widget lists the articles contained in the same section of the current article.
  • Knowledge Base Popular Articles (Premium Only)
    This widget lists the articles which are performing best in a certain Knowledge Base.
  • Knowledge Base – Table of Contents – TOC – (Premium Only)
    This widget lists the Table of Content for the current article. The list is generated using the header titles (h1 to h6) that’s present in the articles’ content.
  • Knowledge Base – Tag Cloud (Premium Only)
    This widget lists the available tags for the current Knowledge Base.
